The importance of Ngāti Tumatauenga;
Ngāti Tumatauenga acknowledges that the Army is one family of people bound together by the ethic of service to our country, mutual trust and camaraderie. As one people the Army is one tribe.

Ngāti Tumatauenga reflects the Army’s unity; it has seen them develop their own New Zealand military cultural practices and ceremonies guided by Tikanga Māori on the one hand and British and European custom on the other. We explore this through the experiences of the new recruits.
